Don Williams or know as Donald Ray Williams, hewas born in Floydada, Texas on May 27, 1939. He grew up in Portland near Corpus Christi, TX. said that he began playing the guitar as a child, he learn the instrument from his mother.
when he was a teenager, he played in a variety of country, rockabilly, folk and rock and roll bands. He wrote his first song, "Walk It Off" at age 14. His first paying job in music came at the opening of the Billups Service Station in Taft, Texas.

This is breif history. Don worked as a bill collector, drove a bread truck, worked in the Texas oil fields, in furniture retailing, in a smelting plant, and for Pittsburgh Plate Glass.
After spending time in the Army where he wrote "Down The Road I Go", a song he pitched to Johnny Cash, he came to Nashville only to be told he needed a group. Back in Texas, Don found his group when Loften Kline and himself, singing as the Strangers-Two met Susan Taylor and, in 1964 formed the Pozo-Seco Singers. The group signed a contract with Columbia Records and had some success with 2 1966 top 40 songs - "I Can Make It With You" and "Look What You've Done". In 1967 they moved their home base to Nashville and released "Time". The group stayed together until 1971; Don jokingly "credits" Bob McDill with the demise of the group - He wrote their last song.

                    Tulsa Time
I left Oklahoma drivin' in a Pontiac
Just about to lose my mind
i was goin' on to Arizona, maybe on to California
Where all the people live so fine
My baby said I was crazy, my momma called me lazy
I was goin' to show 'em all this time
'Cause you know I ain't no fool an' I don't need no more schoolin'
I was born to just walk the line

                       Livin' on Tulsa time
                      Livin' on Tulsa time
Well you know I've been through it
When I set my watch back to it
                       Livin' on Tulsa time

Well there I was in Hollywood wishin' I was doin' good
                 Talkin' on the telephone line
But they don't need me in the movies and nobody sings my songs
                 Guess I'm just wastin' time
Well then I got to thinkin', man I'm really sinkin'
And I really had a flash this time
I had no business leavin' and nobody would be grievin'
If I went on back to Tulsa time

                    Livin' on Tulsa time
                      Livin' on Tulsa time
Gonna set my watch back to it
Cause you know I've been through it
                       Livin' on Tulsa time

This is really interesting comedy movie. Really! I like black man named Billy Ray Valentine or Eddie Murphy. He did a really good job in this movie. He is funny. He made me laugh all the way the movie was shown.i think this movie want to show about the trading at that time, people play the broke. People with high educated, they get higher chance for successful.Like in the movie,Louis Winthorpe III is a successful commodity broker with mansion, manservant and beautiful girlfriend. While Billy Ray Valentine is a hustling beggar. As this two man have a verry differeces background so the problem happened.

The movie starts with a young boy who is playing a plan toy. He is waiting for his farther. The scene was switched to another man who actually is the boy in the first scene. This happened during the Second World War, a special project is begun by the US Army Air Corps to integrate African American pilots into the Fighter Pilot Program Known as the "Tuskegee Airman". Black man have the same destiny here, they were treated bad as a Negro. White doesn’t like them because they are Negro. They are not accepted. Tuskegee army airfield was where the first 'colored' army fighter pilots were trained. This dramatization of real events follows one man, Hannibal Lee, through training to impossibly high standards, Congressional maneuvering, months of no air-combat action, and finally acceptance and decoration as one of the 332nd Fighter Group, who never lost a bomber to enemy action

The film also depicts the racism encountered by the pilots. In one example, the airmen are forced to give their seats on a crowded train to German prisoners of war. Even after the airmen complete their training, the military brass is reluctant to trust them in battle. But First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt publicizes their plight by going to Tuskegee and having one of the African-American pilots take her for a plane ride, and shortly thereafter the airmen are assigned a combat role. Eventually they join with other African-American pilots in the 332nd Fighter Group where their skill in protecting bombers from enemy fighters finally earns them the respect they deserve. While, they work on their duty. They have loss many pilots. It was so sad. It is said that the screen story was co-authored by Robert Williams, one of the pilots trained at Tuskegee.
Overall of this movie seem to me very interesting. The film run and let the watcher like to follow and want to keep watching.

Western Expansion "Bend In The River"

<MARQUEE WIDTH="100%" BEHAVIOR="scroll" SCROLLAMOUNT="5" DIRECTION="left"> The film start with a crowd of people with wagon train.I think they are moving to someplace but i don't know where is it.After that the picture ture to another scene of the man named Glyn McLyntock (James Stewart) rescues Emerson Cole (Arthur Kennedy) from being lynched for stealing a horse. After they shake off their pursuers, they run across a wagon-train going from Missouri to the Oregon territory. One of the pioneers is the eligible Laurie Baile (Julie Adams). The Indian give a signal of bird sound. It was funny when Laurie said that the bids sing a beautiful song. While they were stoping for dinner, they are attacked by Indians,. McLyntock and Cole go out and deal with them. While they were flighting,Cole saves McLyntock's life. However,Laurie is seriously injured by an arrow.

When they reach Portland, Oregon, Laurie remains there to recover. Cole also leaves the party, partly because he is attracted to her and partly because of the opportunities to make money. The rest, including McLyntock, go on to establish a settlement in the wilderness, first arranging to have supplies they need for the winter to be sent on when they arrive.

However, they begin to worry when the supplies don't show up. McLyntock and Jeremy Baile (Jay C. Flippen), the leader of the settlers, go to investigate; they find that a gold rush has driven up prices enormously and their greedy supplier has decided to sell to the highest bidder. Though Cole works for the crook, he switches sides and helps McLyntock round up a gang to steal the shipment and take it back to the settlement.

On the way, the hired men begin thinking about how much the miners would pay for their cargo. Cole can't resist the temptation of all that money and doublecrosses his friend, but doesn't kill him and he did a mistake. So, McLyntock follows and tracks them down and takes the supplies back, with the assistance of Jeremy, Laurie and gambler Trey Wilson (Rock Hudson).

This movie show the conflict between the native American and the while man,the new settled. The film also shown deverlopment of making the bussiness. It seems hard for the first mover to find the right place and to survive in the land where they never been before. However, it is nice film, interesting.

Nation Building Jeremiah Johnson

<MARQUEE WIDTH="100%" BEHAVIOR="scroll" SCROLLAMOUNT="5" DIRECTION="left"> 'Jeremiah Johnson' is the story of a fronteirsman who lives in the mountains and befalls some hard times with the Native Americans. Although the cinematography/photography is good and some excellent music, the film's plot was too slow for my liking.I also thought that it was too long to sit through, and the story and the character just did not interest me enough. Unless you have a big interest in this era of history or have heard about the film and think you may like it, then you might, actually i like the history film but it is slow. This is a movie with humor, action, love story, and blah blah blah.

Johnson tries to take up the life of a mountain man/trapper, supporting himself in the western mountains as a trapper, but only becomes successful after teaming up with Bear Claw, who shows him how to live in the mountains. Just when his life seems to be turning around, Johnson precipitates a bloody feud between himself and an Indian tribe. The film is a bit anachronistic because Johnson is portrayed as a refugee from the Mexican-American war. The great days of the mountain men were pretty much over by that time, and, as indicated in the film, the old hunting grounds were being occupied by settlers. The original plan was to have Johnson die at the end, but his fate is left hanging in this film.

Wizard Of Oz

I think this film is an old film but the technique to produce is quite high standard. The film is about a lonely and sad Kansas farmgirl Dorothy.she dreams of a better place, without torment against her dog Toto from a hateful neighbor spinster, so she plans to run away.
During a fierce tornado, she is struck on the head and transported to a wonderland. Here she meets magical characters from her Kansas life transformed within her unconscious dream state.

She wishes to go home so the angle tell her to travels down a Yellow Brick Road to the Land of Oz, and the defeat of the Wicked Witch of the West. While she is traveling to the land of Oz,She meets her new accompany. Dorothy and her friends are rewarded by the Wizard of Oz with their hearts' desires - and Dorothy is enabled to return home to Kansas.

The Wizard of Oz is a classic film. This film reminds me of my childhood. And it's a pretty enchanting film.I can't remenber at what age i was watched this film.Only kew i was so young. The film, the technique is little diference from what wathced. So, overall, The Wizard of Oz is a great film that will hopefully continue to enchant generations to come!

of mice ans men

<MARQUEE WIDTH="100%" BEHAVIOR="scroll" SCROLLAMOUNT="5" DIRECTION="left"> </MARQUEE>

singin' in the Rain

This movie was showing the deverlopment of producing the movies in the past. Between the silent and sound movie. This film, use the technique called "MGM's TECHNICOLOR Musical Treasure to produce it.So it make the movie become more colourful than before. Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, both of them was a good acter and actress.Only Don was a real good one because he can play both silent movies and sound movies. Both of them were good partner since the producer decided, at the last minute, that their latest picture should be a talking movies. This is fine with Don, because he is an excellent dancer and has a great voice, but problems arise with Lina, because her voice is like a duck. The movie has a lot of fun while the movie was produced the troubles the filmmakers have with sound recording. He trying to sneak microphones in plants and even in Lina's dress and the dubbing process. The sound gets out of sync with the picture.
A girl named Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds), more modest and with a better voice, enters the picture.Don falling in love her. Once he walk through the rain and sing the song "i am singing in the rain Bla bla....."Singin' in the Rain is a joyous and the unforgetable musical. It also has some of the funniest and most skillful song-and-dance.
It is a kind of romance movie,it is nice movie. The movie has the beautiful scene with a colourful picture, shirt. T think tis movie is the best movie in in the past that the technology might not quit up to date like nowaday.

music by Nacio Herb Brown; lyrics by Arthur Freed

Singin' in the rain Just singin' in the rain.

What a glorious feelin'. I'm happy again.

I'm laughin' at cloudsSo dark up above.

The sun's in my heart And I'm ready for love.
Let the stormy clouds chase Everyone from the place.

on with the rain. I've a smile on my face.

I'll walk down the lane With a happy refrain, And singin', just singin' in the rain.

Last Samurai

It is a Great Movie and a great scenery!. The acting was good, the fighting scenes were ok, but personally i like how they showed how Nathan Algren or Tom Cruise adapted to the Samurai way of life!. It was real helpful for them to show us why they were how they were. The ending was predictable but all in all well cast, well acted, well directed.

The film is about Captain Nathan Algren who is a man adrift. The battles he once fought now seem distant and futile. Once he risked his life for honor and country, but the Civil War, changed the world. Pragmatism has replaced courage, self-interest has taken the place of sacrifice and honor can not be found. Katsumoto, the last leader of an ancient line of warriors, the venerated Samurai, who dedicated their lives to serving emperor and country. Just as the modern way encroached upon the American West, cornering and condemning the Native American, it also engulfed traditional Japan. The telegraph lines and railroads that brought progress now threaten those values and codes by which the Samurai have lived and died for centuries. The young Emperor of Japan hires Algren to train Japan's first modern, conscript army. But as the Emperor's advisors attempt to eradicate the Samurai in preparation for a more Westernized and trade-friendly government, Algren finds himself unexpectedly impressed and influenced by his encounters with the Samurai. Once when he was captued by the Samurai, while he was in the camp of Samirai he had learn so many thing and help him to remind him of the man he once was. He found himself in the war between Samirai and the modern Japanese soldiers.
The end of this movie is quite sad, all of good samurai died. Only one thing the Emperor of Japan had changed his mind what he had done and proud of whom they are and are.

Blind Willie Johnson

<MARQUEE WIDTH="100%" BEHAVIOR="scroll" SCROLLAMOUNT="5" DIRECTION="left"> Blind Willie Johnson (1902-1945)

This is the history of the great singer that I ever heard. He was amazing! Eventhought he was blind but still he tried not to make a problem anyone. He tries to play a guitar by himself.

He was an African-American singer and guitarist whose music straddled the border between blues and spirituals. While the lyrics of most of his songs were religious, his music drew from both sacred and blues traditions. Among musicians, he is considered one of the greatest slide or bottleneck guitar artists. His music is distinguishable by his powerful bass strumming and gravelly false-bass voice, with occasional use of a tenor voice.

It is unclear when Blind Willie Johnson was born. He may have been born as early as 1897. It is said that Johnson was either born in Marlin,Texas or was born in Temple,Texas and then moved to Marlin later in his childhood. When he was five, he told his father he wanted to be a preacher, and then fashioned himself a cigar box guitar. His mother died when he was little, and his father remarried soon after her death.
Johnson was not born blind, but it happened when he was seven, his father caught his stepmother going out with another man, and beat her. In self defense, she picked up a handful of lye, and threw it at the father's eyes. Unfortunately, she missed, and the lye landed in Willie's eyes.

He thought himself to play the guitar and accompanied himself using a pocketknife for a slide to mimic his voice. His father would take him to the town of Hearne and leave him to play o the corner every Saturday with a tin cup tied around his neck.
He married with Angelina at age 25. She was the sister of blues guitarist L.C. “good Rockin” He died of pneumonia. Another thing that impress me is his belife in Jesus that never decline. Even he was faced with bad situation which caues him into blind. Others may refuse Jesus or may blame Him. I like the way he did that evangerised by songs.
These are the example of his songs;

Jesus Is Coming

The Red Badge of Courage

Directed By: John Huston

Starring: Audie Murphy (Henry ),Bill Mauldin (Tom),John Dierkes, Royal Dano, Arthur Hunnicutt

The movie starts with images of soldiers waiting to anticipation of war.No one sure about tomorrow. I think this movie shows the boredom and anticipation for war. For the war shows waiting and endless. The scene shows the fear, serious, for many soldiers are proud to flight in the war, except for the main character, Henry, are excited and fear of going into battle. Many times in the movie, Henry running away from battle .

Once, while Henry was fighting and he thinks he would loss so he ran away from his duty. And he shame of it, his shame worsens as he comes across men of his regiment who have been wounded in the fight. Gathering his courage, he returns to duty determined not to flee again , seeking redemption for his running, and have a grand passion to destroy the enemies. Henry suffers one injury during the film, when he is hit in the back by a musket.

However, he is returned back to camp. Battle continues in the morning. The end result shows the US winning and marching onward to the next battle. Overall, I enjoyed this film. I have never seen the movie before taking this class. I like how it shows that not everyone drafted in the military were eager to fight in battle, however, some were. Many soldiers cheered at the thought of going into battle. When they actually were in harms way on the field, however, they were not cheering. The character of Henry Fleming, allows people to see the humanity in war. His character allows the viewer to see how the draft played a key part in recruitment and that many did not want to take part in this war.

Also, I saw the strong Christian believe whenever they are going to flight they would pray and I heard Christian songs in this film as well.

Scarlet Letter

The main character of the movie are Hester, Dimmesdale, Dillingwell and Pearl. The story starts off almost immediately in which the viewer finds Hester Prynne, holding her daughter, Pearl, in her arms, standing in front of the congregation. She is on trial for having the child out of wedlock and because she refuses to name the father of her baby, for her humiliation and punishment she must wear the scarlet letter "A" over her bosom. Roger Prynne, Hester's old husband, returns home from his long sea journey to find his young wife has beared forth a child that is obviously not his, thus, and to save face, decides to be known through the community as Doctor Roger Dillingwell. Hester, in turn keeps her husband's identity a secret, knowing that his avenge is to learn the father's identity. While Hester was working, Hester's daughter, Pearl, must face her own humiliation by being an outcast to the neighborhood children. They refused to play with her, and being insulted by their mothers, unaware as to why she is being treated just as cruelly as her mother, who steps in on Pearl's behalf after one scene finding Pearl getting mud thrown at her by the other children. As for the Rev. Arthur Dimmesdale , he silently suffers for being worshiped by his congregation, unable to confess to all, through a promise he had made to Hester to keep silent, that he is the one responsible for Hester's guilt, and continues to suffer until the climax. At the end he stand in front of the congregation and think that he should be there and to protact her when Hester was trail. He died and confess to everyone that he is the father.

Personally, after seeing "The Scarlet Letter" I think, it is a good movie. The movie starts with the lady holding her daughter and is on trail for having the child out of wedlock. It shows the strong Christianity norms. However, It show that as a human being, we all can did mistakes and we cannot judge anyone without reasoning.

Squanto

Squanto is a young Indian warrior. He was a Patuxet Indian. He had been born in a village which used to be located near the site of New Plymouth When a European ship comes ashore to greet the Indians, the white men give them trinkets and say they come in peace. But soon Squanto and other young Indian men are tricked into slavery. Squanto is taken to Europe and delivered to Sir George, who puts his new slave on exhibition as town entertainment. Squanto escapes and is found later the English countryside by some Catholic priests. While th priests fear Squanto but Brother Daniel do not. The two teach each other their languages and customs. When Sir George discovers Squanto's hiding place, Squanto must make another escape, and eventually gains passage on a ship back to the New World. When the Mayflower lands at Plymouth and tensions between the white men and the Indians begin to mount, Squanto must call upon his knowledge of both cultures to build trust and prevent more bloodshed and betrayal.

The film is nice because it remind me a history. The twist in this film, however, is that there are both good and bad Indians, and good and bad Europeans. Sir George and the other white men in the film do not regard the Indians as fully human, but the Christians do.

However, Squanto tends to imply that all religions are equally valid. In another scene, it is implied that the priests accept Squanto's Creator as the same God they worship. Such attempts to show parallels between the two religions fails to recognize their differences. Squanto has many positive features, but its religious messages could be misleading.

If you have a chance, you should watch it.It is really nice movies.
